So you can see if it's for you, your first lesson is free, but even after that, Aikido is a pretty inexpensive activity to take part in.

Initial costs include a training uniform (called a "Gi") which costs about £18 and membership to our governing association: Shobu Aikido U.K.which is £25 per year (less for students or unwaged.) This fee also covers insurance.

Mat fees per training session and times are detailed below.

Tuesday
19:30 - 21:30
£5 Adult / £3 Concession
Thursday

Additional training equipment is usually bought around 6 months after you begin when your training becomes a little more advanced. This may include your own set of weapons which are the staff, sword and knife (called Jo, Bokken and Tanto respectively). The Dojo has a limited number of weapons for those who don't yet have their own. A cheap set of all three will set you back around £20 to £25. The traditional piece of clothing called a Hakama is also worn by senior students and teachers but you won't have to worry about that for a while yet!
