• Baggy clothes to train in - Jogging bottoms and a t-shirt are ideal. (Stay away from jeans, the rivets can tear the mats and they don't allow much movement.)
• A drink (preferably water as it can be thirsty work sometimes!)
• An open mind and enthusiasm!

Hallamshire Aikido has links with suppliers of training equipment and uniforms (gi) which can be ordered at discount prices when you feel ready to take that step. After a few lessons you'll also need to take out membership and insurance (which also allows you to train at the many courses we attend) The cost won't be any more than £25.

A few things to remember:

Safety is paramount. Please obey the instructions given by the teacher (they do have a reason!) To this end, following the rules of ettiquette is important.

If you have a question - ask it!

Don't worry if you can't remember things from one session to the next or get frustrated with a technique. We were all beginners once.
